What is a Super Visa?

The option of a super visa allows you to visit your child/grandchild for up to 2 years at any one time. Additionally, it is a multi-entry visa that provides multiple entries for a period of up to 10 years.

Eligibility

  • Be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada
  • Have a legal valid travel document (passport)
  • Proof of strong ties in your home country; such as a job, property, financial assets, which will satisfy an officer of your intention to leave Canada at the end of your authorized stay
  • Proof of sufficient funds to cover your entire stay in Canada
  • Undertake and pass a medical examination
  • Obtain Canadian medical insurance that is at least $100,000 coverage for at least one year from the date of entry
  • Obtain a letter of invitation from your child or grandchild
  • Acquire a written financial agreement from the child or grandchild including the necessary income requirements
  • Proof of minimum income from your child/grandchild
  • Must apply for a Super Visa from outside Canada

Evidence of proof of funds

  • Notice of assessment (NOA) or T4/T1 for the most recent tax year
  • Employment Insurance (EI) stubs
  • Employment letter including salary and date of hiring
  • Pay stubs
  • Bank statements

Restrictions of a Super Visa

  • Super visas do not allow holders to work while in Canada
  • A valid super visa cannot be issued past the expiry date of your passport
  • Super visas do not allow dependents to be included on the application
