Calgary & southern Alberta

Your Calgary Immigration Consultant

Calgary's economy is unlike anywhere else in Canada: a global energy hub that has diversified fast into technology, financial services and logistics. We work with petroleum engineers and geoscientists, software developers, accountants and project managers, health-care workers, and the skilled trades that keep the city building. As your regulated Calgary immigration consultant, rated 5.0 across 48 Google reviews, we match your skilled-worker profile to the strongest, fastest route to permanent residence.

For most Calgary skilled workers, that runs through two doors we open together: Express Entry and the Alberta AAIP. Our free Alberta PNP points calculator shows where you stand on the Worker EOI grid. International graduates of the University of Calgary, SAIT and Bow Valley College can move from a study permit to a PGWP and on to PR, and families reunite through sponsorship. If you're still deciding between Calgary and Ottawa, our guide to moving to Calgary covers neighbourhoods and the job market, and Calgary living costs in 2026 has the numbers newcomers actually budget for. We assess every route honestly and build the one that fits.

We're based an hour west in Canmore, and Calgary is the city we serve most. Wild Mountain Immigration is rated 5.0 across 48 Google reviews, and our licence is public: you can confirm RCIC #R706497 on the CICC register in under a minute, so a regulated professional you can verify is always handling your file.

Calgary, in detail

What a Calgary immigration file actually looks like

Calgary is the city we serve most, and its files have a shape of their own. Roughly half our Calgary clients are already here on a permit, a work permit tied to an energy, engineering or technology employer, a post-graduation permit from the University of Calgary, SAIT, Mount Royal or Bow Valley College, or a spouse's open permit, and want the fastest honest route to permanent residence. The other half are abroad with a Calgary job offer or a Calgary partner. The programs are the same everywhere in Alberta; what changes in Calgary is which ones actually win.

The routes that work in Calgary

  • Alberta Opportunity Stream: the route for most Calgary workers with a full-time job and a valid permit. Alberta experience and language scores decide the cut-off; Calgary's employers file the paperwork every week.
  • Accelerated Tech Pathway: built for the software, data and product roles clustered around Calgary's downtown tech employers and the university.
  • Dedicated Health Care Pathway: Alberta Health Services, the Foothills, the Children's and the South Health Campus recruit internationally; nurses and health care aides are the most common Calgary nomination we file.
  • Express Entry with a provincial nomination: for engineers, accountants and analysts whose CRS sits below the 2026 cut-offs, the nomination's 600 points is the difference.
  • Spousal sponsorship: inland with an open work permit is the usual Calgary file, and the first call is free whichever route you are on.

Calgary employers and the LMIA

Calgary's large employers, the energy majors, the engineering consultancies, the banks' western operations, the hospitals and the university, mostly hire foreign workers on LMIA-exempt permits (intra-company transfers, CUSMA for Americans and Mexicans) or through the Global Talent Stream. Restaurants, construction firms, trucking companies and care homes file standard LMIAs, and Calgary's median wage sets the high-wage line at $37.50 an hour in 2026. We prepare both sides: the employer's LMIA and the worker's permit.

Where to get help in Calgary, and what is free

  • Immigrant Services Calgary, the Centre for Newcomers and the Calgary Catholic Immigration Society provide free settlement help, language classes and job search support to permanent residents and many temporary residents.
  • Biometrics are taken at Service Canada offices across the city by appointment; there is no public IRCC counter in Calgary, and applications are online.
  • The Calgary Public Library runs free newcomer programs at every branch; the Alberta Health Care card is issued at registry agents from the day you become a resident.

If you are still choosing where in the city to live, our moving to Calgary guide has the August 2026 rents, prices and quadrant-by-quadrant notes, and best places to live in Alberta compares Calgary with the rest of the province. Everything above is done online: as your Calgary immigration consultant, we are an hour west in Canmore, and every Calgary client meets us by video, at the same fees as anyone else.

SPsatish paridaSpousal sponsorship
I came to Nicola when things were toughest, out of status with expired paperwork. She calmed me down and walked me through everything, the work permit, then the PNP, then PR. She always kept me updated and answered every question, no matter how small. After a few months I had my work permit, my nomination and my invitation to apply for PR. More than worthy, her work and the price are well deserved.

FAQ

Questions, answered honestly

Book a call
Do you have an office in Calgary?

No walk-in office. We are based in Canmore, an hour west on the Trans-Canada, and Calgary is the city we serve most, by video call and phone at times that fit shift work and downtown hours. Everything IRCC and the AAIP need is filed online, so a Calgary client gets the same regulated RCIC, the same fixed fees and no downtown overhead. In-person meetings in Calgary can be arranged for signing or document review.

Which immigration route do most Calgary workers use to get PR?

The Alberta Opportunity Stream for people already working in Calgary on a permit, and Express Entry with an Alberta nomination for those whose CRS is below the 2026 cut-offs. Tech workers use the Accelerated Tech Pathway; nurses and health care aides the Dedicated Health Care Pathway. We score the Worker EOI first, then choose.

I am in Calgary on a work permit that expires soon. What do I do?

Apply to extend it, or apply for the next permit, before the expiry date so maintained status keeps you legal and working. If a nomination or PR application is in process, a bridging open work permit may cover the gap. The mistake we see in Calgary every month is a permit left to lapse while an employer waits on an LMIA; call us the month before, not the week.

Can you handle the LMIA for my Calgary employer?

Yes. We prepare the employer's Labour Market Impact Assessment (recruitment, the wage against Calgary's $37.50 high-wage line, the low-wage stream's housing and transport obligations where they apply) and the worker's permit together, and we tell the employer at the start if the file will not clear the cap.

How much does an immigration consultant in Calgary cost?

We charge the same fixed-scope fees to Calgary clients as to anyone else: full file management or a lower-cost file review, set out in writing before we start. The fees page has the current list. The consultation is free; charges begin only once you retain us for the file.

Is Calgary a good place to immigrate to compared with Toronto or Vancouver?

On cost and on the immigration route, usually yes: housing at roughly half Vancouver's price, no provincial sales tax, health coverage from arrival, and a provincial program that nominates most occupations with an Alberta job. Toronto has the bigger job market; Vancouver the climate. Our four-city comparison sets out the numbers.

Where can I get free settlement help in Calgary?

Immigrant Services Calgary, the Centre for Newcomers and the Calgary Catholic Immigration Society offer free settlement, language and employment support to permanent residents and many temporary residents; the Calgary Public Library runs newcomer programs at every branch. We refer clients to them for settlement and keep the immigration file ourselves.

Can a Calgary immigration consultant guarantee my application?

No, and CICC rules prohibit promising outcomes. What a licensed RCIC does is assess your eligibility honestly, choose the strongest route, and prepare a complete, accurate application. Anyone in Calgary guaranteeing a result is a reason to walk away.

How do I check you are a licensed RCIC?

Search RCIC #R706497 on the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants public register; it takes under a minute. We encourage every Calgary client to do it before hiring any consultant, including us.
