OINP points calculator: Ontario PNP EOI score 2026
This free OINP points calculator, also known as an Ontario PNP points calculator, estimates your OINP EOI score under the Ontario Workforce Priority stream, using the points grid published on ontario.ca. It scores up to 130 points across 11 factors in about two minutes and shows where every point comes from.
OINP points calculator
Free. About two minutes. Add your name and email at the end to see your score and get the breakdown by email.
Which route would you register under?
The Ontario Workforce Priority stream is the only OINP stream that scores expressions of interest. The grid is the same for every route, except that self-employed physicians are not scored on wage.
Key takeaways
An OINP points calculator estimates your Ontario Workforce Priority stream expression of interest score using the grid on ontario.ca: 11 factors and up to 130 points. It scores your job's TEER, occupation, wage and region, your Ontario work experience, Canadian earnings, legal status, education, Canadian credentials and language. Ontario ranks registrations by score and invites the highest-ranking candidates.
- This OINP calculator is free, takes about two minutes and emails you the breakdown.
- The maximum is 130 for a job offer and 115 for a self-employed physician, who is not scored on wage.
- Region of the job is worth up to 15, wage up to 15, Ontario experience up to 18 and language up to 25.
- One stream scores registrations: Ontario closed its eight previous streams on 25 June 2026 and opened the EOI portal on 4 August 2026.
- Ontario had published no invitation round under the Ontario Workforce Priority stream as of 4 October 2026, so no cut-off score exists yet.
What does this OINP points calculator estimate?
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) uses an expression of interest system. You register an EOI, Ontario scores your answers on a published grid and places the registration in a selection pool, and from time to time it ranks the pool, either across all candidates or in a targeted round, and invites the highest-ranking candidates to apply (ontario.ca, OINP application process, updated 10 August 2026). This OINP points calculator mirrors that grid so you can see your score before you register.
Since 25 June 2026 the Ontario Workforce Priority stream is the only OINP stream. Ontario removed its eight previous streams that day and opened the stream's EOI portal on 4 August 2026, with routes for a job offer in a TEER 0 to 3 job, a job offer in a TEER 4 or 5 job, and self-employed physicians. With a job offer, your employer first submits the job in the Employer Portal and you then have 30 calendar days to register an EOI with the job offer ID. Our guide to the Ontario Workforce Priority stream sets out the requirements, and the Ontario (OINP) overview covers the program as a whole.
The OINP points grid 2026: every factor and point value
Ontario scores an EOI on 11factors in four groups. Each table below lists every level of every factor in Ontario's own wording, the points it earns and the highest value of the factor. They are copied from the Ontario Workforce Priority stream page on ontario.ca, which was last updated on 11 August 2026 and which we checked on 4 October 2026.

Ontario pre-populates the TEER and the broad occupational category in your registration, for a job offer or for a self-employed physician, so you cannot choose them. A physician's occupation (NOC 31100, 31101 or 31102) is TEER 1 in broad category 3, so the grid gives a physician 9 and 10 on those two factors.
Ontario work experience is scored one of two ways for a job offer: by full-time months in the job offer position, or, if you have under 6 months in the position, by full-time months of work in Ontario in general on the lower 12, 9 and 6 scale. Either way the grid gives 0 points if you are not currently working in the position or in Ontario. Work in the position counts only if it was with your job offer employer, in the same occupation and at the same location as the job offer (ontario.ca, applicant checklist, updated 11 August 2026).
The earnings factor reads one Notice of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency issued in the last 5 years. You need at least $30,000 earned in a single calendar year to score, T4 slips alone are not accepted, and earnings from different years are not combined (ontario.ca, applicant checklist).
Education: up to 20 points
| Factor | How points are awarded | Highest value |
|---|---|---|
| Highest level of education | Doctorate or degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry: 10Masters degree: 8University certificate or diploma above a bachelor level: 6Bachelors degree or equivalent: 6Ontario College Graduate Certificate: 5University certificate or diploma below a bachelor level: 5College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma that is not an Ontario College Graduate Certificate: 5Apprenticeship or trades certificate or diploma: 5Less than college or trade certificate: 0 | 10 |
| Number of Canadian education credentials | More than one Canadian credential: 10One Canadian credential: 5No Canadian credential: 0 | 10 |
A Canadian credential for the second factor must be a post-secondary credential from an eligible Canadian institution that takes at least one year to complete full-time. Ontario lists its eligible institutions, and those in the other provinces, on the stream page.
Language: up to 25 points
| Factor | How points are awarded | Highest value |
|---|---|---|
| Official language ability (English or French) | CLB 9 or higher: 15CLB 8: 12CLB 7: 8CLB 6: 4CLB 5 or lower: 0 | 15 |
| Knowledge of official languages | 2 official languages: 101 official language: 5 | 10 |
Ontario scores your lowest CLB level across reading, writing, listening and speaking, and if you took both an English and a French test it scores the test with the higher level. The 10 points for two official languages need CLB 6 or higher in all four abilities on both tests. Language points are claimed with an approved test result from the last 2 years, so a recent Ontario graduate who meets the stream's language requirement without a test has no result to score. Ontario does not state a minimum level for the 5 points for one official language, so the calculator awards them for any approved test result. Convert your test scores to CLB levels with our CLB calculator.
Regionalization: up to 15 points
| Factor | How points are awarded | Highest value |
|---|---|---|
| Regional immigration: location of work location in job offer | Northern Ontario: 15Eastern Ontario: 10Central Ontario outside GTA: 10Southwestern Ontario: 10Inside GTA (except Toronto): 5Toronto: 0 | 15 |
The region is the location of the job in the job offer or, for a self-employed physician, the Ontario practice address on the OHIP billing number registration. Ontario sorts each location into a region by census division.
| Region | Points | Census divisions |
|---|---|---|
| Northern Ontario | 15 | Muskoka, Haliburton, Nipissing, Parry Sound, Manitoulin, Sudbury, Greater Sudbury, Timiskaming, Cochrane, Algoma, Thunder Bay, Rainy River and Kenora |
| Eastern Ontario | 10 | Frontenac, Hastings, Kawartha Lakes, Lanark, Leeds and Grenville, Lennox and Addington, Northumberland, Ottawa, Peterborough, Prescott and Russell, Prince Edward, Renfrew, and Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry |
| Central Ontario outside the GTA | 10 | Dufferin, Grey, Simcoe, Waterloo and Wellington |
| Southwestern Ontario | 10 | Brant, Bruce, Chatham-Kent, Elgin, Essex, Haldimand-Norfolk, Hamilton, Huron, Lambton, Middlesex, Niagara, Oxford and Perth |
| Inside the GTA, except Toronto | 5 | The regional municipalities of Durham, Halton, Peel and York |
| The City of Toronto | 0 | The City of Toronto |
How is the maximum OINP score worked out?
Ontario does not print a total for the grid. Adding the highest value of each of the 11 factors gives 130 points: 70 for employment and labour market factors, 20 for education, 25 for language and 15for region. A self-employed physician is not scored on hourly wage, which lowers that route's maximum to 115. The TEER factor also caps the score a job can reach: a TEER 2 or 3 job earns 6 of the 9 TEER points, so its ceiling is 127, and a TEER 4 or 5 job earns none, so its ceiling is 121.
How do I use this OINP calculator?
Using this OINP calculator takes about two minutes. It asks one question at a time, in the same order as Ontario's grid, and then asks for your name and email to reveal your estimated EOI score with the full breakdown.
- 01
Choose your route
Pick a job offer in a TEER 0 to 3 job, a job offer in a TEER 4 or 5 job, or self-employed physician. The TEER is the second digit of the five-digit NOC code on your job offer, and our NOC code finder shows it.
- 02
Answer the grid questions
Answer about a dozen questions on your job, your Ontario work experience, your earnings, your status, your education, your language results and the region of the job.
- 03
Reveal your score
Add your name and email to reveal your estimated EOI score out of 130, with the breakdown by factor. The same breakdown is emailed to you.
- 04
Check the requirements
A score is not eligibility. Check your work experience, language, education, legal status and your employer's eligibility against the stream requirements before you register.
What are the OINP cut-off scores in 2026?
Ontario had published no invitation round under the Ontario Workforce Priority stream as of 4 October 2026, so no cut-off score exists yet. The newest entry on Ontario's program updates page is the portal opening on 4 August 2026, and the invitations page lists no round for the new stream (ontario.ca, checked 4 October 2026).
The last rounds before the redesign ran in April 2026 under the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream, the retired stream closest to the job offer route. Their minimum scores are below. They were scored on a grid with a maximum of 76, not 130, so they show how Ontario targeted its rounds, not what score the new stream needs.
| Date | Round | Minimum score |
|---|---|---|
| 30 April 2026 | Greater Toronto Area | 57 |
| 23 April 2026 | Eastern Ontario | 63 |
| 23 April 2026 | Northern Ontario | 60 |
| 23 April 2026 | Southwestern Ontario | 60 |
| 23 April 2026 | Central Ontario (excluding the GTA) | 60 |
| 8 April 2026 | Health care and early childhood education occupations | 20 |
| 8 April 2026 | Francophone candidates | 35 |
| 8 April 2026 | Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) pilot | 46 |
| 8 April 2026 | Physicians | 43 |
| 1 April 2026 | Priority occupations in the mining sector | 56 |
Across all 21 Foreign Worker rounds of 2026, minimums ranged from 20 (health care and early childhood education occupations, 8 April) to 63 (Eastern Ontario, 23 April). Every round, with its invitations and the occupations or region it targeted, is on our OINP draws tracker.
How the new OINP grid differs from the grid behind the 2026 draws
The retired Foreign Worker grid had nine factors and a maximum of 76 points. The Ontario Workforce Priority grid has 11 factors and a maximum of 130. It adds education and Canadian credentials, which the retired grid did not score, and it weights time in the job (3 points before, up to 18 now), region (up to 10 before, up to 15 now), wage (10 before, 15 now) and earnings history (3 before, up to 8 now) more heavily (ontario.ca, archived Foreign Worker stream page, updated 27 July 2026).
| Factor | Retired Foreign Worker grid | Ontario Workforce Priority grid |
|---|---|---|
| NOC TEER category | 10 | 9 |
| NOC broad occupational category | 10 | 10 |
| Hourly wage | 10 | 15 |
| Legal status in Canada (retired grid: work permit status) | 10 | 10 |
| Time in the job offer position | 3 | 18 |
| Canadian earnings history | 3 | 8 |
| Highest level of education | Not scored | 10 |
| Number of Canadian education credentials | Not scored | 10 |
| Official language ability | 10 | 15 |
| Knowledge of official languages | 10 | 10 |
| Region of the job | 10 | 15 |
| Maximum score | 76 | 130 |
Three worked OINP score examples
Each score below follows the same points grid as the calculator, so you can reproduce every figure by entering the same answers. The nurse is NOC 31301 (TEER 1) at $42 an hour, the developer is NOC 21231 (TEER 1) at $45 an hour and the server is NOC 65200 (TEER 5) at $25 an hour.
| Factor | Registered nurse, Sudbury | Software developer, Toronto | Server, Ottawa |
|---|---|---|---|
| NOC TEER category | NOC TEER 0 or 1 (9) | NOC TEER 0 or 1 (9) | NOC TEER 4 or 5 (0) |
| NOC broad occupational category | Occupational Category 3 (10) | Occupational Category 2 (6) | Occupational Category 5, 6 (2) |
| Hourly wage | $40 per hour or higher (15) | $40 per hour or higher (15) | $25 to $29.99 per hour (8) |
| Ontario work experience | 13 to 24 months working full-time in job offer position (15) | 6 to 12 months working full-time in job offer position (12) | 13 to 24 months working full-time in job offer position (15) |
| Canadian work experience: earnings history | $70k or more earnings in a year (8) | $50k to $69,999 (6) | $30k to $49,999 (4) |
| Legal status in Canada | With valid work permit (10) | With valid work permit (10) | With valid work permit (10) |
| Highest level of education | Bachelors degree or equivalent (6) | Bachelors degree or equivalent (6) | Less than college or trade certificate (0) |
| Number of Canadian education credentials | One Canadian credential (5) | No Canadian credential (0) | No Canadian credential (0) |
| Official language ability (English or French) | CLB 9 or higher (15) | CLB 8 (12) | CLB 5 or lower (0) |
| Knowledge of official languages | 1 official language (5) | 1 official language (5) | 1 official language (5) |
| Regional immigration: location of work location in job offer | Northern Ontario (15) | Toronto (0) | Eastern Ontario (10) |
| Total score | 113 of 130 | 81 of 130 | 54 of 130 |
| Highest possible on the route | 130 | 130 | 121 |
The nurse in Sudbury reaches 113 mostly on region and experience: Northern Ontario earns 15 points and 13 to 24 months in the job earns 15. The same job in Toronto at $38 an hour scores 95, because the region factor falls by 15 and the wage factor by 3. The developer in Toronto scores 81 with a strong wage and no points for region or Canadian credentials. The server scores 54 against a ceiling of 121, because a TEER 5 job earns none of the 9 TEER points.
How can you improve your OINP score?
If your estimate is lower than you want, several factors can change with time or effort. These are the moves that carry the most points on the grid:
- Language: CLB 6 earns 4 points, CLB 7 earns 8, CLB 8 earns 12 and CLB 9 or higher earns 15, and CLB 6 or higher in both English and French lifts the second language factor from 5 to 10. A test result is valid for 2 years.
- Experience in the job: 6 to 12 months of full-time work in the job offer position earns 12, 13 to 24 months earns 15 and over 24 months earns 18, counted only for your job offer employer, in the same occupation and at the same location.
- Canadian credentials: one eligible Canadian credential of at least a year earns 5 and more than one earns 10, on top of the 5 to 10 points for the level of your highest education.
- Earnings history: a single Notice of Assessment showing $30,000, $50,000 or $70,000 earned in one year earns 4, 6 or 8 points.
- Legal status: a valid work permit earns 10 points and a valid study permit earns 5.
- What your job decides: the TEER, occupational category, wage and region come from your employer's job offer. A job in Northern Ontario earns 15 points for region and one in Toronto earns none, which is a factor to weigh when you choose a job rather than a lever to pull after you register.
A licensed RCIC can tell you which of these are worth pursuing for your profile before you spend money on tests, credentials or assessments.
OINP EOI score vs Express Entry CRS: what is the difference?
Ontario scores your EOI out of 130 on its own grid to rank the OINP pool, while IRCC scores your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) profile out of 1,200 to rank the Express Entry pool, so a score of 90 here and a CRS of 90 are not comparable. The two connect after an invitation: if you are invited with a TEER 0 to 3 job offer, or as a self-employed physician, and your application is approved, you can choose to be nominated through Express Entry, and a provincial nomination adds 600 points to your CRS score. Estimate the federal score with our CRS calculator.
A score is not eligibility
If you are weighing Ontario against another province, our AAIP calculator scores the Alberta Worker EOI out of 100 on Alberta's own grid, and the Provincial Nominee Program overview compares every province.

Once the calculator gives you a number, the next step is checking that you meet every stream requirement, because a score does not make you eligible. Wild Mountain Immigration is led by a licensed Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) in good standing with the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC #R706497), and we work online with clients across Canada and abroad. We can check your registration against the grid, your employer's eligibility and your Express Entry options, so get started when you are ready. Frequently asked questions
What is an OINP points calculator?
An OINP points calculator is a free tool that estimates the score Ontario gives your expression of interest (EOI) under the Ontario Workforce Priority stream, using the points grid published on ontario.ca. This one scores up to 130 points across 11 factors, shows how each factor adds up and sets the result against Ontario's draw record. You add your name and email at the end to reveal the score, and the full breakdown is emailed to you.
How many points is the OINP grid out of?
The Ontario Workforce Priority stream grid adds up to 130 points for a registration with a job offer and 115 for a self-employed physician, who is not scored on hourly wage. Ontario prints no total on its page, so 130 is the sum of the highest value in each of the 11 factors (ontario.ca, Ontario Workforce Priority stream, updated 11 August 2026, checked 4 October 2026).
What is a good OINP score in 2026?
Ontario had published no invitation round under the Ontario Workforce Priority stream as of 4 October 2026, so no cut-off score exists yet. The rounds held before the 25 June 2026 redesign used a different grid with a maximum of 76, so their 2026 minimums of 20 to 63 for the Foreign Worker stream do not apply to the 130-point grid (ontario.ca, Invitations to apply to the OINP, updated 11 August 2026). Until the stream has a draw record, read your score as a map of where your points come from, not as a prediction of an invitation.
Is there a minimum OINP score to register an EOI?
ontario.ca states no minimum score to register an expression of interest: you can register at any score if you meet every stream requirement, and Ontario ranks registrations and invites the highest-ranking candidates, either across the whole pool or in targeted rounds. An invitation is never guaranteed, and an EOI stays in the pool for 12 months (ontario.ca, OINP application process, updated 10 August 2026).
Which OINP streams use the points grid?
Only the Ontario Workforce Priority stream scores expressions of interest, and it has been the OINP's single stream since 25 June 2026, when Ontario closed its eight previous streams. Ontario opened the stream's EOI portal on 4 August 2026, with routes for job offers in every NOC TEER category and for self-employed physicians (ontario.ca, 2026 OINP updates, updated 4 August 2026).
Do I need a job offer to use the OINP calculator?
Yes for the two job offer routes, because the Ontario Workforce Priority stream needs a full-time, permanent Ontario job offer that your employer has submitted in the Employer Portal. Self-employed physicians with an OHIP billing number and a College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario certificate are the exception and can register without a job offer (ontario.ca, Ontario Workforce Priority stream).
How are language points calculated on the OINP grid?
Language scores up to 25 points on this grid: up to 15 for your lowest CLB result across reading, writing, listening and speaking, and 5 or 10 for knowing one or two official languages. CLB 9 or higher earns 15, CLB 8 earns 12, CLB 7 earns 8, CLB 6 earns 4 and CLB 5 or lower earns 0, and two official languages need CLB 6 or higher on both tests. The test must be from the last 2 years, and IELTS General Training, CELPIP General, PTE Core, TEF Canada and TCF Canada are accepted (ontario.ca, Ontario Workforce Priority stream).
How are points awarded for the region of the job?
The location of the job offer decides up to 15 points: Northern Ontario 15, Eastern Ontario, Central Ontario outside the GTA and Southwestern Ontario 10 each, the GTA outside Toronto 5 and the City of Toronto 0. Ontario sorts each work location into a region by census division (ontario.ca, Ontario Workforce Priority stream, checked 4 October 2026).
Can I change my NOC or wage after I register an EOI?
You cannot change your NOC or hourly wage after registering an EOI with a job offer, because Ontario fills both in from your employer's job offer; to change either, your employer must withdraw the job offer and submit a new one. You must then register a new EOI (ontario.ca, OINP application process, updated 10 August 2026).
How long does an OINP EOI last, and what does it cost?
An OINP EOI stays valid for 12 months or until Ontario invites you, and registering costs nothing; the application fee is paid only if you are invited, $1,500 for a job outside the Greater Toronto Area and $2,000 inside it. You must submit the application and pay within 17 days of the invitation (ontario.ca, OINP application process, updated 10 August 2026).
Does an OINP nomination add 600 Express Entry points?
An OINP nomination adds 600 points to your Comprehensive Ranking System score if you are invited and approved with a TEER 0 to 3 job offer, or as a self-employed physician, and choose to be nominated through Express Entry. TEER 4 and 5 nominees apply to IRCC outside Express Entry (ontario.ca, OINP application process).
Is this OINP points calculator an official Ontario tool?
This OINP points calculator is not an official Ontario tool: it is an estimate that Wild Mountain Immigration built from the points grid on ontario.ca, and Ontario scores your actual registration from the documents you supply, so your official score can differ. We are a CICC-regulated immigration consultancy and are not affiliated with the Government of Ontario or the Government of Canada.
Will the OINP points grid change?
The OINP points grid can change again, because Ontario describes its June 2026 changes as the first of a 2-phase redesign of the program (ontario.ca, 2026 OINP updates, updated 4 August 2026). This calculator follows the grid on ontario.ca as read on 4 October 2026.
