How Manitoba PNP draws work
Candidates for the Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas pathways submit an Expression of Interest scored out of 1,000 on language, age, work experience, education, adaptability and Manitoba connections. Manitoba then decides, draw by draw, whom to invite. Since 2024 it has leaned on three methods: occupation-specific selections targeting NOC codes in shortage (physicians, teachers, early childhood educators, bus drivers, aerospace trades in 2026); top-scoring selections within a named occupational group of people currently employed in Manitoba, which is where the published lowest scores come from; and strategic recruitment initiatives, where employers, ethnocultural and Francophone community organisations, regional communities and the temporary work-permit public policy identify candidates who are then invited directly.
An invitation is a Letter of Advice to Apply, giving 60 days to file the full MPNP application with fees and documents. A nomination follows if the application is approved, and the candidate then applies to IRCC for permanent residence, through Express Entry with 600 additional points if they hold a valid profile, or as a base nominee if not. Manitoba reports the Express Entry share in every notice.
What the 2026 pattern means for you
- If you work in Manitoba in a listed occupation, watch the occupation-specific selections. Draw #270 invited every eligible teacher and early childhood educator; #275 every eligible physician; #276 the aerospace trades; #278 family physicians and bus drivers.
